Aries is ruling this season and setting the tone for the rest of 2026.

This year the Aries equinox is a rare and exquisite study of Aries energy. We have never seen the like of it in modern astrology. Saddle up, friends. February and March ran with an intensity and speed we have never experienced, but the yang fire horse is still young and about to take flight with unstoppable high energy fuelled by seven planets in the cardinal fire sign of Aries. It’s a match made in fire horse heaven.

Let’s take a cool couple of steps back for an objective view.

Anything that happens at the 0° of the cardinal signs corresponding to the equinox and solstices are significant to Gaia. 0° of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn are on the world axis. The seasons change and any significant planetary transits at these critical points will be felt on the world stage and seen on the evening news.

The Aries Equinox when the sun clocks onto a new season at 0° Aries has perhaps the highest significance in Western Seasonal Astrology. This is the major earth point of manifestation beginning a whole new turn of the zodiac wheel. 29° Pisces marks the absolute end of a completed cycle, 0° Aries marks the first breath of the new cycle.

Being the first breath of the new cycle, this chart will set the tone and the pace of the year ahead. 7 planets in Aries, including Neptune which at this very early degree represents a seed point of change in our human collective consciousness. Neptune has an orbit of 165 years so we haven’t seen Neptune in the early degrees of Aries for two long lifetimes. 

This time round Neptune crossed the portal from Pisces to Aries hand in hand with Saturn, the planet of form, consequence and ripening karma. The last time we saw that was 6,000 yrs ago.

The dreams of Neptune find physical form with Saturn. Personally and collectively It is a perfect time to land the dream, or the nightmare if we are not familiar with what motivates us, because our subconscious motivations hiding in the shadows also have an energy ready to manifest. 

Mars and Mercury will move across 0° Aries on the 10th and 15th April adding more speed, rapid action and rapid mind which we will feel until mid may.

The Moon, having intensified the emotional picture approaching the equinox, has moved along quickly and promises to revisit monthly to check in on emotional authenticity in the midst of all this change. 

Venus moved to Taurus on 31st March for most of April, where she will will have some weighing up and balancing decisions to make around comfort and what she can afford. On the 5th and 6th of April, mark your calendar, Venus will be exactly semi sextile 30° from Saturn in Aries and square 90° from Pluto in Aquarius. Venus will have to make some creature comfort decisions about what actually reflects her mature values and what is best for the collective.

Let’s review some key understandings of the Aries Energy. 

Aries is yang fire. It’s hot. Hot headed, hot blooded. 

Aries runs on instinct. It’s a rash and rapid response. 

The warrior, the soldier. The fighter. The defender. The adventurer. The elite athlete. 

Action. Action. Action. 

When do we want it? NOW! 

Action before or without thought. 

Head strong and impatient. Rash and tactless. 

Did I mention, funny? Aries is a comic. It’s almost impossible to stay angry with Aries for long because they are funny. Instinctively slap stick funny or high minded sword sharp observationally hilarious.

There is a strangely innocent response to having wounded you in humour or through intention. They move on quickly. It blows over - for them. Want to talk about what happened yesterday? “What do you mean?” “When?”

Aries symbolises embodiment, the first breath as spirit enters body, The physical body, specifically the head, face, muscles, blood, adrenals are all ruled by Aries. We will physically feel the impact of this period of rapid change at this speed and intensity. Inflammation, speed accidents, sports accidents, anger accidents, accidents caused by impatience. The physical impact of all things Aries like war, violence and aggression, football. 

Aries is driven by adrenalin. Fight or Flight is pure adrenalin. Survival level fear morphs into anxiety, terror, preemptive strikes, anger and rage. Great stuff to get us out of trouble, but no way to live day to day when the threat eases and is replaced with hyper vigilance. This energy needs unpacking and balancing as we go or we will burn out. Aries is a sprinter, not a marathon runner. 

The beautiful side of the Aries is courage, bravery and heroism. The super hero rashness that thinks nothing of the risk to themselves to care for the underdog. Aries is the first responder, the first to the the rescue. If Aries took an annual picnic day the fire brigade and the ambulance service, the paramedics, the hazard response team would all close down ! Pisces to Aries is the portal of Compassionate Action. April is perhaps the most intense month of 2026 with a flow on ripple that will change the collective human consciousness, change the collective paradigm, change the world.
