Some Wounds Only Love Can Heal: Chiron enters Taurus 2026

Chiron is known in astro culture as “the wounded healer” for good reason.

Chiron was a master of natural earth medicine, a healer who used plant medicine and energy healing. A philosopher, wisdom keeper, the gentlest of the centaurs, teacher and mentor of heroes and healers. Yet a physical arrow wound to somewhere on his body - that history cannot agree on (his knee, thigh, foot and shoulder are all mentioned as possible sites) - could not be healed with all the skill in the natural medicine world.  The healer couldn’t heal himself.

Part of the problem was that Chiron was a demi-god - he was immortal so the poison on the arrow shot by Heracles (Hercules) into a boisterous crowd of marauding centaurs who smelled wine on the wind, landed somewhere on Chiron’s body, but could not kill him because he could not die. He could only suffer.

Meanwhile back at the Eagle Rock where Prometheus was bound as a punishment for stealing fire from the gods and giving it to the mortal humans…Chiron gave his immortality in exchange for the freedom of Prometheus. What a guy. Chiron himself ascended to the stars and became the constellation Sagittarius.

Chiron was wounded on many levels - the arrow was the last straw so to speak. Chiron understood suffering. Let’s unpack some of the earlier wounds that made him the demi-god he was.

Chiron’s father was old man Kronos (Saturn) who was sexually interested in the beautiful water nymph, Philyra, who was not interested in him. She ran through the forest to get away, and Kronos took the form of a stallion to chase her down. This rape is worth a mention in the “me too” movement, but it was the norm in Greek mythology and has gone down in history as Kronos (Saturn) taking the shape of a stallion to hide the affair from his wife. Patriarchy is written in the mythology of the stars.

The punchline is that the child born of that rape was born half horse.  Not beautifully balanced like a centaur with four legs of a stallion that can run like the wind and the upper body of a muscular archer. Chiron was born deformed. He had four legs, the front two were human legs, his back legs were the legs of a foal. He would never be able to run freely. Though most babies in their total vulnerability have the survival skill to stimulate oxytocin, to Philyra this baby triggered shame.  She abandoned her baby. Kronos is not in the picture.

Double abandonment. No father. No mother. Intergenerational trauma. Inherited shame of the mother. Where would Chiron ever belong?

There are a few wonderful things that happen from his disability. He was adopted by Apollo and Artemis who raised and educated Chiron in all the arts and sciences of a civilised life. This gave him a place of honour and respect in the world and though he preferred to live in a cave on Mt Pelion, he had no shortage of students who sought him out.

And then there was Chariklo, the nymph who loved him exactly as he was.

Some wounds do not heal.

Some wounds only death can heal.

Some wounds only love will heal.

Within our solar system Chiron is an asteroid orbiting between Saturn and Uranus that takes 50 years to cycle through all the signs of the zodiac. Wherever Chiron goes he reveals the wounds, insecurities, lack of safety, lack of support and lack of belonging. Chiron activates the wounds wherever he travels across the zodiac.

Our old physical wounds stir. Our mental health issues are triggered, often by an innocent party tripping unwittingly across our scars and getting a primal wound reaction. Any deeply emotional lack of self worth, doubt, abandonment, lack of belonging or loneliness issues are front and centre, and our spiritual doubt undermines our healing ability.

Chiron alerts us to wounds that are not healed by shining a light in these shadow areas through the course of our everyday life.  We can suffer it or we can work with it.

When transiting Chiron aspects a point or planet in our natal chart, the healing process will express through the qualities of that point or planet. For example: when transiting Chiron is opposite our natal Venus the issues arising will be typical of Venus. Love, relationships and finances rule the day with the underlying theme of being worthy enough to be well loved, treated with respect and have a comfortable lifestyle.  Because it is opposite there will be conflict and projection in the dynamic.

Venus is opposite Chiron in the sky right now and having a collective influence on life on earth. Chiron is dancing opposite Venus across the signs Taurus/Scorpio and Aries/Libra. Interesting that Venus rules both Libra and Taurus and the spotlight is on relationships from the personal to the political to the galactic. Our wounds and our capacity to love are in direct opposition. This resonates through our collective consciousness.

Dates of exact opposition are below but we feel the energy of this opposition all through September to December 2026:

11 Sept at 0° Taurus/Scorpio - Face the wound

28th October at 28° Aries/Libra - Explore the wound

28th & 29th November 26° Aries/Libra - Resolve the wound or risk repeating

On 15th September the Moon was conjunct Venus in Libra opposite Chiron in Aries. This is a significant poignant moment of deep love even as the oppositional conflict is revealed: the Moon and Venus bringing the grace of acceptance and forgiveness and deep heart understanding of the conflicting energy. That energy is still rippling though springtime if we resonate with it.

House activation. Even when transiting Chiron is not aspecting a natal planet or point, it will still activate a house, stirring up a general theme in that area of our life. Homework: review what the houses mean, and it will all make sense. If Chiron is travelling through our 4th house of home, family and ancestors that is where our complex feelings of belonging will be activated. If it happens to be aspecting our Sun, it is a much bigger deal and our whole identity can be up for healing. For example: “Why didn’t you tell me I was adopted?”  “Why was I abandoned?”  “Why was I rejected?”

A Chiron transit teaches us that on a spiritual path all wounds are functional.  Wounds inflicted by others or self inflicted, visible and invisible wounds all create insecurities and challenges that take a long time to heal, maybe lifetimes. Chiron brings the opportunity to see the wound and make good through it. Like helping Prometheus, we can make some good karma working with Chiron.

Opportunity to heal. Chiron is the archetypal healer-philosopher. He brings the opportunity to heal through earth medicines, but also to heal through understanding the wound. To take our wounds philosophically means we can learn to grow through them. We can grow self worth through exploring them, own our own part in the dynamic if that is appropriate. We can make changes to improve the situation, become a better person for them and even change the world because of the experience of being wounded and growing through the experience. So many wonderful not-for-profit organisations exist because of the healing process of their founders.

The stages of healing working with Chrion

  1. The smack in the mouth when someone trips over our scars and we react from a much older wound. We are opened up. Our insecurities are challenged in a big way.

  2. We struggle with the wound.  Shame pops out of nowhere, not good enough. Was it my fault? Did I have some part of this? Did I provoke this?  Like a drowning person slapping the water trying to stay afloat. Our insecurities are screaming.

  3. We break through. The struggle dies. Some ego part of us also dies in order for something to heal. We accept and we float. We feel a sense of allowing ourselves to be human. We allow the process to unfold in a way that we can move forward in our life.

These three stages happen over the course of the transit because Chiron travels back and forth across a few degrees.   From 19th June 2026 to 2nd May 2027 Chiron is moving from 1° Taurus to 27° Aries and back to 1° Taurus. If your natal chart has a planet or point (ascendant or mid heaven) between 27°Aries to 1°Taurus it would be wise to pay attention to underlying self worth challenges.  This is a terrific chance to resolve the “I’m not good enough” and break through into recognising your self worth, personal value, that you are worth loving, and worth self care.

This resonates with the epitome of the Aries lesson of understanding all of life to the extent that we understand ourselves. Crack this one and we can all move forward into valuing our beautiful earth.

Chiron in Taurus

Dates:

19th June - 17th Sept 2026

14th April 2027 - 19th July 2033

23rd October 2033 - 5th May 2034

Taurus is a sign of ownership. “Neither a borrower nor a lender be” said the Taurus, William Shakespeare. Ruled by Venus, Taurus is about creature comforts, the pleasures of life, love, beauty, and money growing.  But it’s really about what we value and the means to attain and hold what we value. It is also about Pachamama. Nature, Mother Earth, Gaia.

The negative Taurus use of material wealth to prove our self worth will be challenged. “Greed is good” will be challenged. The more we accumulate, the more successful we appear and the more confident we appear in the world, will be challenged. Security and power built on material possessions can only go so far, because you can’t take it with you.

While Chiron is in Taurus, we’ll be rebuilding our sense of self-worth. We are very sensitive right now about our desire for comfort, indulgence, money, personal belongings, and everything we value.  We’ll be learning to focus on our needs in healthy doses without feeling guilty in the process or without seeking validation.

Taurus healing has a strong nature connection. Natural health and healing will be generationally attractive, and people will want to choose better health options, better earth options, eat healthier and improve self worth. Chiron will reveal the stressors that drain us and offer opportunities to create routines that are supportive. Great time to be a natural earth medicine practitioner. Great time to see a natural earth medicine practitioner.

Chiron Return

It’s a 50-year orbit so if you were born in 1976 you are feeling the Chiron Return right now. The insecurities you are facing now are the residue of what has not been resolved in the course of your life. This is part of the “mid life crisis”. Consider that this is the wound you were born with and born to learn and grow through. Consider that the nature of this wound brings what you need to make the world a better place. My good wishes on this leg of your journey.
