Skin Support Smoothie

Smoothies are a great, nutrient dense way to start the day or keep with you as a snack when afternoon cravings hit. Each ingredient in this smoothie has been selected not only to be delicious, but to provide vital nutrients and antioxidants to support our skin health.

Starting with a base of chilled herbal tea is a great way to add additional therapeutic value from our beloved herbs, but can be replaced with water, coconut water or your preferred milk alternative.

*It is important to acknowledge that not all collagen powders are created equally (or ethically!) - here is a fantastic article that goes through some of the pitfalls of collagen manufacturing and what to watch out for - https://www.reallifeofpie.com/blog/the-truth-about-collagen-powders

Ingredients:

  • 200mL of chilled rosehip tea

  • 100mL coconut water

  • 1 tbsp high quality collagen powder (*see notes)

  • 1 tbsp vanilla pea or rice protein

  • 1 tbsp flaxseed oil

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • Small handful each of frozen raspberries and blueberries

  • Small handful of pepitas

  • 1/2 avocado

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth

  2. You can adjust the volume of liquid to reach your desired consistency - less liquid if you would prefer a smoothie bowl (top with almond butter, fresh fruit and shredded coconut), or more liquid if you want something you can easily drink through the day.

  3. Serve and enjoy!
