Effective and Spicy Cough Medicine
1/2 tspn cayenne pepper
1/2 tspn ginger powder (or freshly grated ginger)
1 Tbsn apple cider vinegar - must be cloudy
1. Tbsn honey - manuka is best.
2 Tbsn water - boiled and cooled or filtered
Shake well - I use my smoothie maker to blend.
Administer 1 tsp at a time as needed.
This mix can and does take your breath away so is best taken in a little extra water,
Or with some extra honey for children.
I absolutely love this effective cough medicine for that exact reason - ‘It is effective!
It's another one of those remedies that my grandfather would whip up at the first sign of coughs or sniffles.
It brings a very rapid cessation to spasmodic coughing when my sinuses decide to have an episode of releasing.
Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
The capsaicin stimulates secretions and protects mucus membranes in the entire respiratory tract.
It helps to clear stagnant mucus and opens the airways. It is of great help in sinusitis and cystic fibrosis to eliminate stagnant secretions.
Ginger is good for removing mucus from the lungs and putting a stop to severe coughing.
