Calming Pineapple Sage and Ginger Tea
(Hot or cold)
I’ve recently grown a lot of pineapple sage in my back yard, and after a bit of research I found that it’s used a lot for anti-anxiety and depression remedies. I’ve had a few stressful weeks myself and found it was rather calming, a welcome relief after the stress of Covid 19 etc. I hope you enjoy it!
Ingredients:
-
1 cup fresh pineapple sage leaf
-
¼ cup locally sourced honey
-
1 lemon (juiced)
-
1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (or a small knob is fine)
-
Optional – ½ cup pineapple juice frozen into cubes
Method:
-
Place sage leaves in a large bowl
-
Bring one litre (4 cups) of filtered water just before the boil.
-
Gently pour the water of the sage leaves.
-
Add the ginger, lemon and honey
-
Steep for 15 minutes.
-
Gently bring back to the boil then strain into cups.
-
If you want it as an iced tea, when the tisane cools pour over the pineapple juice ice cubes in a large glass, delicious and refreshing!
