Calming Pineapple Sage and Ginger Tea

(Hot or cold)

I’ve recently grown a lot of pineapple sage in my back yard, and after a bit of research I found that it’s used a lot for anti-anxiety and depression remedies. I’ve had a few stressful weeks myself and found it was rather calming, a welcome relief after the stress of Covid 19 etc. I hope you enjoy it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh pineapple sage leaf

  • ¼ cup locally sourced honey

  • 1 lemon (juiced)

  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger (or a small knob is fine)

  • Optional – ½ cup pineapple juice frozen into cubes

Method:

  1. Place sage leaves in a large bowl

  2. Bring one litre (4 cups) of filtered water just before the boil.

  3. Gently pour the water of the sage leaves.

  4. Add the ginger, lemon and honey

  5. Steep for 15 minutes.

  6. Gently bring back to the boil then strain into cups.

  7. If you want it as an iced tea, when the tisane cools pour over the pineapple juice ice cubes in a large glass, delicious and refreshing!
